Connect ChatGPT
- Open the Ledgy app in ChatGPT and click Connect.
- Sign in with Apple, Google, or email.

- Import statements and receipts. Upload a PDF, CSV, or export; the assistant maps rows to your existing categories and creates them in one batch.
- Ask about your spending. “How much did I spend on groceries in July?” The answer comes from your own data, not an estimate.

Questions people actually ask
Is it secure? What can ChatGPT or Claude actually access?
Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and happens on Ledgy's own consent page, with Apple, Google, or email. The assistant never sees your password. Once connected, it can read your data and, when you ask, create, edit, or delete entries; ChatGPT shows a confirmation prompt before any write. Data is stored in Germany (Hetzner) plus Google Cloud Firestore. Transaction amounts are never sent to analytics. To disconnect, remove the connector in your ChatGPT or Claude settings. What is the free trial and when does it start?
Connecting is free. The 7-day trial starts the first time you actually use Ledgy through the chat, meaning your first import or question, not at connection time. During those 7 days you get the full product, including the web dashboard. After that, Ledgy Cloud is $2.99/month or $22.99/year (USD). See pricing.
What happens to my data when the trial ends?
Nothing is deleted. Your data stays saved. The chat tools stop working and point you to dashboard.ledgy.app/upgrade, where you can continue by subscribing through the App Store (an Apple device is needed for that today).
Which statement formats work?
Whatever the assistant can read. In July 2026, real users imported bank PDF statements, a bank export file, an Amex statement, and a family budget PDF. You upload or paste the statement into the chat; the AI maps the rows to your categories and creates them in one batch. There is no bank connection involved; the AI reads the file you give it.
Does it connect to my bank automatically?
No. There is no bank account linking, and nothing pulls from your bank. You send the statement yourself. Next month, you just send the new one.
Do I need the iOS app?
No. You sign up during the connection flow with Apple, Google, or email, and the trial includes the full web dashboard. When the trial ends, you can subscribe through the App Store — an Apple device is needed for that today; dashboard.ledgy.app/upgrade has the details. The iOS app is optional; it adds voice logging, Apple Watch capture, and more.
Which ChatGPT plan do I need? Does the free plan work?
The Ledgy app in ChatGPT connects straight from the app link with no special setup; where ChatGPT apps are available, the free plan works. The manual Developer-mode route needs ChatGPT Plus, Pro, or Business. Claude custom connectors work on claude.ai and Claude Desktop. Cursor, Windsurf, and other MCP clients that support remote servers with OAuth work too.
